Avanti Destinations: Costa Rica Coast to Coast
Day 1 San José
After you collect your luggage and clear customs, you will be met outside the terminal by our local representative who will be holding a sign with your name on it. They will collect your vouchers and present you with your full itinerary along with times of pick-up and other arrangements. You will be transferred by van to your selected hotel in San José.

Day 2 Tortuguero
Early departure (between 6-7am) by motorcoach from San José, passing through misty Braulio Carillo National Park. From Braulio Carillo you will be dropping down into the tropical lowlands of the Caribbean side of the country. After breakfast, continue to the Tortuguero Canal where you will board a boat for a 2½ hour fascinating trip through the meandering waterway to your selected lodge. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Park Museum and hike the nearby nature trails. Tortuguero National Park is an important breeding ground for the green sea turtles. End the afternoon with a visit to the small village. Return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 3 Tortuguero
After breakfast, depending upon which lodge you are staying in, you will enjoy a morning hike with a naturalist guide in the rainforest. After lunch, there will be an opportunity for further exploration of the Tortuguero channels by boat. Before dinner, enjoy a dip in the pool.

Day 4 Tortuguero, Arenal
After breakfast, experience the tropical forest on your Ecoglide Canopy Tour. This tour not only provides a great adventure zipping through the trees, but also offers the opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural habitat. Each platform of this Zipline adventure has been designed so you can observe the forest from different angles, allowing you to enjoy the impressive scenery.

Day 5 Arenal
After breakfast, experience the tropical forest on your Ecoglide Canopy Tour. This tour not only provides a great adventure zipping through the trees, but also offers the opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural habitat. Each platform of this Zipline adventure has been designed so you can observe the forest from different angles, allowing you to enjoy the impressive scenery.

Day 6 Arenal, Tenorio
After breakfast, transfer 1½ hours to the Tenorio Volcano National Park, best known for the amazing Rio Celeste, with amazing azure water caused by a natural chemical reaction from a constant flow of minerals from the volcano. Upon arrival at the Park, you will hike 4.5 miles through the rainforest (approximately 4 hours) to the magnificent Rio Celeste Waterfall. You will see the Blue Lagoon; the Lookout with its view of the entire volcano complex; Los Tenideros, where the river dyes itself into the amazing blue coloration; and the volcanic fumaroles. After the hike, enjoy a dip in the hot springs and lunch. In the afternoon, transfer to the Rio Celeste Hideaway Hotel.

Day 7 Tenorio
Spend a day at leisure, enjoying the lush tropical surroundings - enjoy the facilities at the hotel, or arrange an optional tour.

Day 8 Tenorio, Guanacaste
Morning departure for Guanacaste. Travel through cattle country to the land of sandy beaches and more national parks. Arrive early afternoon with rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the beach.

Day 9 Guanacaste
Days at leisure to enjoy the beach, or take an optional tour. You might consider a visit to Palo Verde National Park, a horse back ride or just be lazy on the beach to unwind.

Free day at leisure. Overnight in Guanacaste.

Day 11 Guanacaste
After breakfast, transfer to Liberia Airport for your return flight home or on to your next Avanti adventure.
